If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that vintage is not just a passion—it’s a way of living and choosing. Back in 2019, I already wrote an article about Trieste’s second-hand and vintage shops, but in recent years a lot has changed: some places have closed, others have moved, and fortunately, new shops have opened.
So I decided it was time to put together a new itinerary—updated and designed for those who, like me, love browsing through clothes from another era, unique accessories, mid-century pieces, and objects that tell stories.
This is a walking guide through the center of Trieste, meant for those who enjoy getting lost among narrow streets, squares, and special shop windows. Take your time: one day won’t be enough.
When I think about where I truly fell in love with vintage, Boogaloo is the first name that comes to mind. This is where I made my first purchases in the early 2000s (when it was called La Pop Boutique and was on Via Vasari), and it remains an essential stop today. Boogaloo combines clothing from the 1940s to the 1990s with handcrafted creations that have a unique, retro charm. Everything is carefully selected with passion.
This tiny shop of about 20 square meters is a little treasure chest filled with rare finds at competitive prices. I’ve found cashmere sweaters for €50, Borsalino hats, and clothing for the whole family at very affordable prices. The owner Alessandro and his wife welcome every visitor with a smile, drawing on their long experience in sourcing garments from apartments and flea markets to select the best pieces.
It’s not clothing, but if you love vintage objects and well-selected mid-century pieces, this may be the most beautiful and historic shop in Trieste in this field. You’ll find collectibles, decorative objects, and furniture—all curated with taste—worth visiting even just to admire.
Here you feel the most “classic” second-hand clothing store atmosphere, with a focus on ready-to-wear pieces. They also buy used clothing, so every visit can bring new surprises.
This is one of those places where what you see is only the beginning: artworks, bags from Italian and French designers, curated or creative objects, and a few special garments. Everything is carefully selected and neatly arranged along the walls.
A recent addition that already deserves a visit: beautifully curated shop windows where major French brands mix with vintage jewelry and accessories, all presented with an early 1900s retro flair that immediately catches the eye.
A place where you truly risk getting “trapped between the shelves” because there is so much to see: vintage clothing, accessories, furniture pieces… and every time it feels like discovering something new.
In the heart of the Ghetto, Michele Tagliente’s shop offers mid-century and antique furniture, along with vintage objects and curiosities. Even if you’re not looking to buy, stopping in front of the shop is almost mandatory—the exterior display is perfect for a classic photo opportunity. While wandering the Ghetto, you’ll also find several shops selling second-hand books, prints, and bric-à-brac, making the area especially interesting for those who enjoy browsing objects and stories from the past.
BORGO TERESIANOAREA
Il Mercatino - Long-standing Militaria Selection in Trieste
📍 Via Valdirivo, 15
Another piece of Trieste’s vintage history, mainly known for its militaria, jeans, and casual second-hand clothing. I’ve found aviator leather jackets here at fair prices and many other pieces worth trying on.
Opened in recent months, Stravolte is a space dedicated to second-hand clothing for men and women, with very competitive prices. A new address to mark in Borgo Teresiano, perfect for checking out the latest arrivals and discovering carefully selected pieces.
Recently arrived in Trieste, BAX Y2K Vintage brings a youthful, contemporary touch to the city, with a second-hand selection aimed primarily at the younger generation. In the shop, you can find leather jackets—not only aviator style but also biker jackets—sweatshirts, and a selection of second-hand clothes that reflect the current trends popular with young people today.
A true all-around second-hand shop: clothing, furniture, accessories, curious objects… one of those places where you go in for a hat and come out with ideas for redecorating your home! Items are sold on consignment, and after a couple of months prices drop, making it possible to get some great deals.
Emporio Vintage Trieste e Laboratorio di di Daniela Bosich
📍 Via della Fonderia, 6/a
A slightly hidden shop that captures you as soon as you enter: tons of second-hand and vintage clothing, accessories, costume jewelry… and the experience of a creative owner who loves helping you find exactly what you’re looking for. You can also access other services here, like window displays, home staging for homes or businesses, personal shopping, or event organization—Daniela is a true multi-talented creative.
One Night Affair
📍 Via della Madonnina, 9
A shop with an eccentric style and never-obvious selections—perfect if you’re looking for something original, themed party outfits, special occasion pieces, or simply items that tell a unique story.
If you’re interested in vintage objects and mid-century design as well as fashion, this permanent flea-market-style shop is worth a visit: furniture, lamps, memorabilia, and curious pieces with intriguing stories.
A place where you can find everything for the home and vintage décor, from mirrors to antique plates. Perfect if you want to add a retro touch to your living spaces.
VIALE XX SETTEMBRE AREA
L’occasione – Used Books & Magazines
📍 Via Francesco Crispi, 12
A must for lovers of books, vintage comics, and second-hand magazines: you can find real bargains here, and often some interesting vintage accessories too.
Araqua’ is a welcoming and well-organized second-hand shop, ideal for those who enjoy browsing pre-loved objects, clothing, accessories, and small vintage pieces. Every visit can turn into a discovery—perfect for sustainable shopping and giving items a second life.
EXTRA TIPS – FLEA MARKETS IN TRIESTE
If you visit Trieste, know that the city hosts many open-air markets, both on weekends and during the week, spread across different neighborhoods. To find out where and when they take place, I recommend checking Mercatini Trieste , a useful guide for navigating among second-hand stalls, vintage objects, and curiosities that animate Trieste’s mornings.
These are the vintage and second-hand shops I’ve chosen to highlight in Trieste’s city center. There are certainly others, but they are outside the center and deserve a separate chapter.
Considering how many there are, one day won’t be enough to visit them all at a relaxed pace. My advice: take your time, walk, step inside without rushing, and let the treasures find you.
Because often, among these little chests of wonderful items, the gem you were looking for is already waiting.
Trieste is truly a paradise for lovers of vintage and sustainable shopping: every street hides a little treasure waiting to be explored. These shops in the historic center will take you on a journey through eras, styles, and stories worth discovering. I recommend grabbing a map, a coffee, and setting out to explore these wonders one by one—and if you ask me, one day won’t be enough!
